Gross Domestic Product [GDP] increased 4.2% between the years ending March 2004 and March 2005. The regional year-on-year growth rate in economic activity for the Bay of Plenty Region is estimated by the National Bank [NB] to be 3.9% for the year ended March 2005.
- EDANZ Quarterly Report December 2004
. (31 March 2005) For Rotorua District the 63 new residential building consents valued at $12.0 million represents a decrease in volume (-14.9%) and a decrease in value (-5.5%) over December 2003. This compares to a national rate for the number of new residential building consents of 5.4%decrease and a regional rate of 15.4% decrease. The 59 non-residential building consents valued at $9.1 million, represent a large increase in volume (31.1%) and value (37.9%) over December 2003.

(23 December 2004) Economic activity is up countrywide giving an estimated national economic growth of 4.0% per annum for the September 2004 year. Regional year on year economic growth in the Bay of Plenty Region is estimated as 5.0%, well above the national average.

(Oct 2004) Economic activity is up countrywide giving an estimated national economic growth of 4.3% per annum for the June 2004 year. Regional year on year economic growth in the Bay of Plenty Region is estimated as 5.3%, well above the national average.
